FWIW, "command" is about manually running update-desktop-database. As
you did not mention which package GARNOME failed in, I had to assume you
where running it manually.

Which command did you run exactly, including set env vars?
I am building using garnome....
GARNOME itself does not produce the output you mentioned in your OP.
So again, which command did you run *exactly*, that reported the error
above? Including any environment variables that you did set, etc.

I don't understand what command means, I just run make paranoid-install
under ../desktop and the above message was given...that it...Still I am
not clear about what you are asking exactly...
