Ah yeah? Which one?

~/.gnome2_private/Evolution, which holds your passwords only

~/.evolution of course :) Apart from the files/dirs mentioned above
there should not be anything else.

Besides temporary ~/.evolution-composer.autosave-* files while composing
new mails (for recovering the mail in case of crashes). FWIW, this is
planned or already done to be moved inside ~/.evolution as well.

~/.evolution and ~/.gconf/apps/evolution to have a somewhat fresh user
environment again.

Please note though: You can NOT simply remove any of those. You need to
stop e-d-s (Evolution backend tasks) before messing with your Evo data
(especially Contacts, etc.), and you need to stop the gconf daemon
before manually messing with the settings stored in GConf.

Both processes/servers do hold some data in memory, which will be
re-synced to disk, if they are still running.

$ evolution --force-shutdown
$ gconftool-2 --shutdown

After building a new Evo version you should at least kill bonobo, too.
