Yes, good idea. It would leave the choice to people whether to build or not the
abovementiond packages.

Good idea as well. Note that people who build from the toplevel directory (and
not from 'desktop') will still face the problem.

Not good. Such behaviour (waiting for user input) in what is made to be an
automated/unattended build system is really not desired, IMHO.

IMHO, the whole point is about whether users point their prefix in their home
dir or in a system dir. In the latter case, they can do a sudo. Otherwise, I
think it's safe to assume they cannot.
Personnally, I like GARNOME at it is : installing in my home dir makes me sure
it cannot do 'dangerous' things outside of it.
