Do you have the -devel package installed as well?

faad2-devel-2.0-0.pm.4.i586.rpm

If not then you might want to install it and then delete the *.la files
that come with the package. Run:

rpm -ql faad2-devel

That should give you a list of the files that the -devel package
installs.
