Evolution with gnome2.8

Hi,

I just (well off and on all day) built 2.8 and, of course, with it
evolution. I had to change the makefile a bit to allow ssl and to
disable the gnome-spell dependancy because gnome-spell was not compiling
for some reason, however, i did manage to get it running.

I made a backup of my evolution folder because I know it's a big(ish)
jump to 2.0, and I didn't want to lose anything.


So, I ran it. It imported my old evolution 1.4 settings and mail and
everything, however, my contacts seem to be broken. When I click the
contacts button, then click on one of the options in the side pane it
says: "error loading addressbook. We were unable to open this address
book, check permissions etc", so basically i'm wondering is the a
garnome/my hacked makefile problem or a problem with evolution that I
should report a bug or what? Am I just missing something stupid? 

Has anyone else had this problem?
