Not for me. I also have mime problems, for me all avi and some mpg files
are suddenly detected as RIFF audio, but only when I select them. I.e.,
When I open a folder, they show the correct file type, but when I select
them ,they get switched to RIFF. Closing and reopening the folder makes
them show the correct types again, untils I select them.

My env settings are correct:
