garnome 2.8.2 failed on libgamin-1.so

Hello,

I'm still trying to build this up on a solaris box:
SunOS rdss1137 5.8 Generic_108528-29 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1500 Solaris

And now I'm blocked on gamin:
./.libs/libgamin-1.so: undefined reference to `connect'
./.libs/libgamin-1.so: undefined reference to `socket'
./.libs/libgamin-1.so: undefined reference to `setenv'
./.libs/libgamin-1.so: undefined reference to `recvmsg'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
gmake[3]: *** [gamin] Error 1

Googled on this topic and it sounds like it should be very difficult 
(impossible?) to build it on Solaris.

Is it mandatory to build it to make gnome work?
If no how can I jump to the next step?
