gnome-panel segfaults

hi,

as i have fount nothing about this (or no solution):
since i upgraded (well i installed from scratch) garnome 0.24.2 my 
gnome-panel segfaults when i
a) add a new item
b) when i want to set the properties of a panel
c) even when i just display the 'About Panels' dialog it crashes after 
3-4 seconds after opening the about window...

any suggestions to that? i even tried the 2.3.2.1 version, still the 
same. with garnome 0.23.1 everything worked fine. are there any logs or 
can i turn on some debug info anywhere?

my config: ppc debian/testing.
every other programm/applet just works fine...
