Problems during garnome build

Hello all
I downloaded the latest Garnome, but am having trouble with the build
process.
The make install hummed along nicely for over an hour until it reached
this message and exited: 


/bin/sh: line 1: /home/dsolley/garnome/etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders:
No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [post-install] Error 1
make[1]: *** [../../gnome/gtk+/cookies/main.d/install] Error 2
make: *** [../../gnome/metacity/cookies/main.d/install] Error 2

I can see that the directory ~/garnome/etc/gtk-2.0 doesn't exist but am
not sure what stuffed up. 
Can somebody help me make some sense of the error? Or even just point me
towards a quick fix. Googling wasn't much help.
