Pango text display

I had many copies of Pango installed (one in /usr/local and one in
/usr/local/gnome), I uninstalled the one in /usr/local. Gnome was using
this one and now it starts but no text is displayed. How do I configure
Pango to use another configuration file than the one it was using ?
