Problem building Garnome 0.21.0 on Red Hat 8.0

Hi all,

I am running Red Hat 8.0 and I created a new user account and proceeded to
build Garnome 0.21.0.  Everything seemed to work fine until the system hung on
a message that looked like this: 

=> Building font cache...

Anybody have any idea what that means?  I tried a couple of times, with the
same result.
