I think that you should talk to Marcus and check out his work on GNOME for
FreeBSD: http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/index.html Not only do they package
stable GNOME, but they also do releases of in-development GNOME very soon
after we make releases (you can grab 2.5.1 atm, and I'm sure 2.5.2 will be
out quickly once we release it next week).

If you reeeeeeaaaaaly want to use GARNOME, then I'm sure he'll be able to
give you the best hints and tips of anyone. He is our FreeBSD guru, and he
could be yours, too. :-)

Once you find out, let us know, because we can probably include better
support for FreeBSD in the future (which will probably be helpful for the
other BSDs that don't have THE POWER OF MARCUS).
