Hi,
I had a very similar problem. The configure script detected the freetype
that was already installed on my system (2.0.5), instead of the one that
Garnome downloads and builds for you. The way I solved it was to modify the
Garnome Makefile under the freetype folder to make it download freetype
2.0.5. You could also manually install a more recent freetype version on
your system.

when i try to compile ggv in gnome-fifth-toe i get the following error:
