Hmm - I don't know what there mysterious xsettings are but my apps still
complain about wrong byte order on startup.
Garnome 0.9.6 on yellowdog 2.1 with xfree 4.1

Could this be the thing that prevents metacity from starting on a new
gnome-session automatically after I entered it in GConf instead of
sawfish?
