build on debian potato, icons in menu

Hello, 

Finally it built on my debian potato!
Maybe this helps somebody: I had to install gettext manually and add
/opt/gnome2/lib/libgettextlib.so to my LDFLAGS before gnome-vfs, GConf,
gnome-desktop, libwnck and gnome-terminal built.

However one question:
As a desktop addict it hurts that I don't see any icons in my menus
(unlike my ydl installation). Is there a way to get them back?
