new install, CORBA problem:

Getting lots of these errors on start up, and anytime I start an
application... I'm way in over my head here, so I'm hoping someone know
what I should do to address this:

here's the error (in this case from starting up a terminal):
Configuration server couldn't be contacted:
 CORBA error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/BAD_OPERATION:1.0
