can't get garnome to run

I'm having trouble getting started with Garnome. I downloaded all of the 
Gnome 2 tarballs and put them in /home/tinman/download/gnome-2.0.0. I 
modified the gar.conf.mk file like this:

# Do *not* remove the $(FILEDIR) link - just add new ones!
FILE_SITES = file://$(FILEDIR)/
file:///home/tinman/download/gnome-2.0.0/

When I run make install I get the following output.

I can't see where garnome is trying the directory I specified. Did I get 
the config file wrong? Thanks for any help.
