I'm not going to sue you over it, but I sure as hell can't help you.

Each piece of software may or may not error out sanely.

There are lots of posts on the list about issues like this. You need to do a
bit of debugging, and work it out (I would be surprised if it weren't a
fontconfig issue).

Yes, or use GARNOME 0.17.x for the stable branch. If you aren't interested
in testing GNOME, GARNOME is not for you.
