Here's what I did:
go to /usr/lib
tar zcfv NAUTILUS-BACKUP.tar.gz *naut*
rm *naut*
make clean/make install nautilus2
once again go to /usr/lib
tar zxfv NAUTILUS-BACKUP.tar.gz
Not the nicest workaround, but it worked for me (TM).
