[gamin] Should gam_server be running on gnome-2.18 desktop machine?

Hi all,

I just updated my gentoo desktop machine from gnome-2.16 to 2.18.

Before today I always saw gam_server running in the background
(after I switched to gamin from famd).

After today's update I notice that neither famd nor gam_server are
running, but everything seems to be working normally AFAICT.

If I create a new file from an xterm command prompt, the new file
appears in about one second in any nautilus window which happens
to be looking at that directory.  (I'm assuming that famd/gamin
are responsible for this feature, am I right about that?)

So, should gam_server be running in the background with gnome-2.18,
or not?
