Maintenance of GGZ-Gnome

Hola,

the GGZ Gaming Zone project [0] integrates multiplayer games with desktops and
offers ranking and community services. We have multiple chat clients which
can launch games, among them two based on the Gtk+ toolkit:

 * ggz-gtk, a small and lean xtext(xchat)-based client
 * ggz-gnome, thought as a user-friendly highly graphical client [1]

As times go by, and developers changed, we've found ourselves without a GNOME
developer. Yet ggz-gnome is still in its infancy, as can be seen from the
screenshot, it looks like some application from 5 years ago.

Therefore, the question is: Is anybody interested in the integration of
multiplayer games with the GNOME desktop in a way which makes it possible
even for non-geeks to say "uh, wow!"? Of course, ggz-gtk doesn't aim at the
same kind of users, therefore the future of ggz-gnome depends on whether it
finds someone to maintain, or actually rewrite, it. In addition to C, we
could offer Python bindings to the libraries for the latter case.

What was part of the initial idea is a list of visual tables, on which players
(whose face/photo/avatar can be seen) are sitting, and games can be joined by
clicking those tables. This should be doable with some SVG. The
infrastructure like for getting the photos is all there already, all that is
lacking is a GNOME developer to care about this :)

Please CC: for answers as I'm not subscribed to this list.

Josef
