Just to throw more opinions...

Why not just create a digest from news.g.o that is sent every week or so
on planet.g.o? With just the headlines that have been sent to news.g.o
in a single entry?

That way is just one entry per week on p.g.o but you still are able to
see what has happened on n.g.o quickly, and you can also pass over it
easily as is one entry only, not 10 or so.
