Hi, It has been proposed to include Evolution in the GNOME Desktop and Developers platform. The required copyright assignment for Evolution allows for contributions to that project only if those contributions can (also) be included by Novell in proprietary software. This is quite contrary what was intended by the GPL which reflects the wishes of at least some developers. I would like to urge the members of the board, as elected representatives of the GNOME community, to safeguard the freedom of the GNOME project, and to avoid including that project into the GNOME Desktop and Developer Platform. Some have argued that various other parts of the GNOME Desktop and Developer Platform require similar copyright assignment. While this may be true, Evolution would be a much more significant and visible part of the Desktop. Sincerely Andreas -- Andreas J. Guelzow <aguelzow taliesin ca> Taliesin
