Percent symbol in Vera Sans Mono

This might be a tricky problem:
With the Bitstream Vera Sans Mono at 12 pt and Xft2 LCD subpixel antialiasing, the slash in the percent symbol is barely visible on a screen with white letter on black background inverted, while the two rings are visually much "thicker". However, this seems not to be the case with black letter on white background.
