Where to save images?

It seems that f-spot gives the user only a _dropdown_list_ of possible
locations to store photos, and the directory that I need is not
listed. Would it be dangerous for me to configure this by editing the
configuration files in VIM? For various reasons we do _not_ want to
store photos in an non-hidden directory.
