I mentioned this in an earlier thread, but Picasa handles this in a
very interesting way.  Each month/unit of time is sorted ealiest to
latest as you would expect, but the months themselves are sorted
latest to earliest.  The effect is wonderful in that your most recent
photos are at the top and they are in the order you expect.  I believe
someone was working on a patch like this.
