Hello,

Somewhat related to the topics of backups and synchronization is how to
keep f-spot synchronized across multiple machines.

I have a (somewhat quirky) policy of having a rather large directory in
~/ that is actually a CVS checkout.  All my important files are stored
there.  It serves to synchronize and, in effect, backup across about six
machines running various incarnations of Debian and Ubuntu.  I realize
this is not the intended use of CVS, but it works well and I have in
fact used its revision control to recover past versions of, e.g., my
thesis that is in progress.

I like to have f-spot available on all the machines so that I can show
photos to people wherever I am.  For my, moving photos between machines
is not hard as I have access to high speed pipes.  So my solution has
been to symlink ~/Photos and and ~/.gnome2/f-spot to actual directories
inside the CVS checkout directory.  This has worked well for me, but I
was wondering:

1) Is there a more normal (I will avoid saying "proper") way to do this?
 For example, can f-spot be instructed to look somewhere else for the
photos and DB?

2) Is cross-machine syncing something that would be valuable to include
within f-spot?  Or is that sufficiently esoteric that it should be
handled externally?  Or just do photo exports as needed?

Also, does anyone have any information on running f-spot on OS X?
