At the moment it is not possible to send mails out of F-spot (photo
database) throught M2 or Thunderbird under Gnome (only Evolution works)
because of issues about attaching files through command line.

It works with Evolution and any other mail client who supports the full  mailto spec.  F-Spot just passes a standard mailto to the app. (see bugzilla comments for details)

According to f-spot-mailing list and this bug-report
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314559 the developers are
working on implementing a way to use Thunderbird.

I posted a script to make this work yesterday to that bug report.  See comment #44
