Code Conventions

Hi
We are a group of students from Gothenburg working on a school project.
This project aim is to add some features to an existing application. We
have chosen F-Spot and plan to implement some of the features on the
TODO-list. 
My question is, have you used any coding conventions when developing
F-Spot and if so, what might these be? A link or something similar, to
these standards would be much appreciated.
