I've just noticed a bug in the error reporting
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165494)

Could you change to two occurrences of 'ref' in your patched version
src/JpegUtils.cs to 'out'. Hopefully this time we'll see the error
message.
