I haven't filed a bug on it yet, feel free to and attach my patch to it. It's been in the Mandriva
2007.0 release since October, and I can't find any complaints or bugs about it. It's also been
working for me.
Please take a look at the comments I got from Matt Davey (gnome-pilot maintainer) about some
concerns about the patch. I agree with his concerns, but haven't had time in the past few months
to figure out a way to overcome the potential problems.
Here's what Matt mentioned to me:

The free(piBuf.data) is actually OK, I believe - if I did pi_buffer_free(piBuf), piBuf itself
would be free. However, since piBuf was allocated on the stack and not with pi_buffer_new() this
is what needed to be done (taken from the Fedora/RedHat patch I believe).
His other concern is valid. While it works for now because the two functions calling
local_record_to_pilot_record() pass in data structures of 0xffff bytes each (currently the largest
size any standard Palm record can be), it needs to be changed in the near future. This actually
isn't much of a change from the previous code - local_record_to_pilot_record() actually created
the data structure itself statically with 0xffff bytes (which is even worse, in my opinion).
In all, I think it's OK to go into the Evolution base - it works for now, and doesn't look like
it'll be broken in the near future. A bug needs to be filed against Matt's concerns, though.
Thanks,
Nathan
