Yes. The new assigned task can be used from anywhere in the evolution
(in any of the component views).  They are often understood as such.
IMO, it is not a good idea to have the same key do different things
based on the context, especially when you can help it.
 In fact, I had asked Devashish not to use Control-D earlier for the 
same reasons. I guess, he tried - just failed to look everywhere
