As per may email earlier today, 2.0.x is still in patch review, and i guess string freeze (ok, that wasn't in the email, but this makes sense to me).

For head, after the 2.0.0 release is tagged and the 2.0.1 code is merged from head to the gnome-2-8 branch.  For head code which will become 2.1.x.  I'm not sure about 2.0.x code after that date, I presume things will get more flexible there too.
