It will be, or I'll personally fly down to Raleigh and lart some people.

That I have no idea about. It would probably be very useful for people
who are going to use the file chooser extensively (like yourselves) to
mosey on over to gtk HEAD and inspect any work that Owen is doing to
make sure that it really is useful/better than what we have now. If you
just ignore the issue and assume that gtk will magically know what your
needs are, it's likely to not fill the holes you need.
