I guess you've set a different search type. Apart of the "All Messages" and the "in Current Folder" modifiers you mentioned earlier there's also the search type hidden under the magnifier icon on the left of the search box, the place where you enter the "grace" text. This setting is remembered, thus maybe you changed it to "Subject contains" (or other) in the past, while you want to search for "Recipients contain" or any other search now. Could you verify that, please?
