problem:
I am not able to find any way to find duplicates, and/or merge
contacts within the address books. I went into a contact and changed
something, put it back so i could save it, then it asked me if i
still wanted to do this as i had already a similar contact but it
didn't ask me if i wanted to merge the contact. there will be over a
hundred thousand contacts when i am done, doing this by hand would be
just not going to happen but i thought i could figure out what/how to
do something by doing that the first time. I learned it didn't show
me the 4 other duplicates, so, even if it worked, it would not have
merged more then two at a time.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269482 and
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=549609 are not resolved.
They are requests to allow searching and merging duplicated contacts.
solutions that have failed thus far:
## the evolution software seems to come already installed with a
plugin for duplicates for some people,
Uh? What makes you think so?
this is not the case for me and someone said to install other
dependencies first, then i will somehow end up with the plugin?
Cannot comment on this without better, more specific info. "Someone
said something somewhere" is too vague to discuss anything substantial.
so, i tried to update my evolution, then i tried to install the
SCon which told me to install the dependencies for that,
I have no idea what "SCon" is and why you installed that and how that
is related to Evolution. Please provide sufficient context.
Thanks!,
