I have 3.30.5-1.1 because that's what's distributed with Debian Stable
(not bleeding edge).  Can I install a newer one without
enduring/creating version mismatches for shared libraries?  Is there a
static-linked version?

Were you able to import the file into 3.30.5-1.1?

What can I do to import a VCF if the result is an empty address book?
