That's why it doesn't work - as Milan said, it only works for 3.30+
Right, it's only 3.30+ material.
Iain, I'm even surprised you see that option in the dconf-editor with
your 3.28.5. The official release doesn't have it. Maybe your
distribution has a custom patch on top of the official 3.28.5 release,
but I kind of doubt it. Does Help->About in Evolution really claim
3.28.5?
I tried with 3.30.2 and setting the option to 'true' been working fine.
I set the value when evolution was not running, but looking briefly
into the code change the option can be modified even when the Evolution
is running. I use the Delete key to delete the message and it's an
IMAPx folder where I test this in. I also did set evolution to go to
the previous message after delete, but it didn't have any influence.
That is, your dconf-editor is not supposed to show you the option which
had been added for 3.30, when you've 3.28 series of evolution.
