I'll translate. SL = Scientific Linux (only because the versions are
wrong for SuSe) ; CE = CentOS (I think, but that's not a normal
abbreviation for it). Both RHEL clones.

But the versions of the distro don't matter, it's the versions of
Evolution that's more important. From experience, RHEL/SL/CentOS 6 =
Evo 2.32 ; RHEL 7 = Evo 3.22

My SA insists he didn't touch my account?

SA I presume is system administrator??

When I opened evolution, it wanted to run the installation wizard.

In which version?

Where did all my account setups go? Or, more precisely, where were they
originally, so I can restore them from a backup? I tried restoring
~/.evolution, but that didn't work.

If you opened Evolution when in CentOS-7, Evolution will have migrated
the account data to the newer version. The data structures are not
backward compatible, so the old version of Evolution in CentOS-6 will
not recognise what's there and will try and start from scratch.

You will have to find some old documentation about Evo 2.32 to find out
what you need to have restored.
