this had been raised here long time ago [1], but it didn't lead to
anywhere, as far as I know.

You can always file an enhancement request to GNOME's bugzilla against
Evolution (https://bugzilla.gnome.org) or check whether it's already
filled and post a bug link for a future reference. Maybe someone will
pick it and will implement the feature.
