yes, it is supported, but some servers can return inaccurate data. For
example, there was done a change for a Cyrus server recently, at [1],
to not get lost the shared folders. I do not have a courier server
instance, thus I cannot test it, but maybe this is a similar issue.
Maybe if you could join the bug [1], then we'll follow the
investigation there.

Just got around to looking at this again and I see the bug is marked as FIXED. I am still having this problem 
with 3.16.3 on Fedora 22.
