Because, as it says, you need a SCHEMA argument to gsettings as well as
the KEY.  So it should be something like 

    gsettings get SCHEMA org.gnome.evolution.mail.mark-seen

and you can get a list of schemas by doing

   gsettings list-schemas

Then you get to decide which schema is the one you need.  Good luck.
