You are right. In version 2.1/2.2 the context menu got cleaned up,
as it
has 21 entries that didn't let anybody find anything anymore.
You have a good memory.
Could it perhaps be made context sensitive or would that not be a good
GUI practice?
It already is.
For instance only offer "reply to list" if the message has a list,
"reply to all" if the message has multiple recipients, "undelete" if
the message has been marked for delete, etc.
Delete / Undelete show up in a context sensitive manner.
It not being there is ok with me [Ctrl-L!]; context-menus easily bloat.
