re. your comments in reverse order:
as of now, my version is 2.30.3, before the dist-upgrade it was 2.22.3

I checked the issues in FAQ before posting here

With mutt, I can access my inbox just fine, I see all mails going back
to my first installation of evolution up to and including the mails
received via this list. Accessing mails, attachments etc. works like a
charm.

That means nothing to the large number of people on this list who use
systems other than Debian. Please quote the Evolution version directly
when asking questions (Help->About).
