Offline for evolution but not for other internet applications.
As the FAQ says, if that is indeed the problem you need to ask on a Debian support list. This is not directly an Evo issue. Perhaps some Debian user here will speak up, but personally I use Fedora. On that system you need to use system-config-network to tell NetworkManager to manage the network interface, but on Debian I have no idea.
