[Evolution] errors

I keep getting crashes preceeded by an error message:

GConf error: Bad key or directory name: "xïQ_x": Must begin with a 
slash '/'

and am using gmail, if that matters.  Is there a log with more detail?  
Start evolution from the console?  I'm in Ubuntu 8.10 presently.
