Hi folks,
Mail Server:
Ubuntu 7.04 server amd64
SquirrelMail 1.4.11
Postfix - pop, smtp
Workstation
Ubuntu 7.04 desktop
Evolution 2.10.1
Evolution can receive mails on the Mail Server but can't send mails
via
the Server. It can send mails to users registered on the Mail
Server.
Also it can send mails via ISP server.
Please be more specific. What does "can't send mails via the Server"
mean? Do the mails bounce? Are they sent but never arrive? Does Evo
hang
while sending? Does it give an error message?
On clicking "send' the mail just is retained in the outbox w/o sent.
However Kmail running F7 on the same workstation (on another HD)
can
send and receive mails on the Mail Server without problem.
Using exactly the same account info? If a server accepts mail to
local
accounts but rejects mail to non-local accounts it sounds like relay
protection on the server, which stops a non-local sender sending to a
non-local receiver. Does the server have sender authentication (i.e.
do
you have to log in or use SSL to send?)
You are right. It is a relay problem but I can't solve it.
First I tried with login -> password to send. It always complained
password incorrect. I also tried None, TLS, SSL etc. includind uncheck
"server required authentication" all w/o improvement. It popup "RCPT
TO <user1 abc com> failed: <user1 abc com>: Relay access denied"
