Can't help you much with this however I may have a need of the answer if
you ever find one.

-Does your distribution localized in Persian / Farsi / iranian (sorry
for my ignorance). If not it may gives you a hint that if you use a
localized gnome you may end up with your official calendar

- Have you tried with your local LUG. Those guys have probably something
sweet for your need
