[Evolution] CalDav

Folks,

I have come across what I think I am going to use for a
calendaring/contact server. I haven't had time to really try it out, but
it seems to meet all of my needs. It looks pretty in industrial
strength, which is good because we might package it as a valued added
service where I work, but it's also bad because it looks to be a bit
tedious to setup in a production environment.

If you dig around it says that it (more or less) works with the open
source Outlook connector (http://www.openconnector.org/) (for our less
fortunate windows afflicted brethren) and a spiffy looking Java client
(http://www.columbamail.org/drupal/) for when you are borrowing somebody
else's computer to check your email.

And of course it says it works well with Evolution.

It was actually pretty simple to configure a new directory with webdav
support and publish my calendar from Evolution 2.6 (Ubunbtu 6.06), but I
have not been able to figure out how to read that calendar back in using
Evolution. Every time I try to specify
https://someserver.com/somedir/somefile.ics and evolution keeps
(unhelpfully) rewriting that as
webcal://someserver.com/somedir/somefile.ics

I've got as far as this too, and are likewise interested to find out
more about this subject. My understanding is that this is basically a
(readonly) FreeBusy-calendar which is separately updated by the
Actions/Publish Calendar Information (if one has not set the
Daily/Weekly update from Preferences/Calendar and Tasks/Calendar
Publishing/Edit).

What I am looking for (and I assume that James is also) is a description
on what the (differences between) CalDAV webDAV are. Also I would be
very grateful if someone more knowledgeable could give pointers or even
short descriptions on working combinations of server software required
to set up this kind of a service which supports shared read/write. I
have insofar tested the calendaring on Horde and Zimbra, but these do
not seem to allow outside editing.

Our case is perhaps even more complex since we have several clients
which should cooperate on a shared read/write calendar, Outlook (not
Express), Evolution and Sun+Thunderbird. Outlook most probably requires
a plugin to work, but insofar I haven't even got Sunbird and Evolution
to perform as required. To shed some light on our background, we
recently got rid of Exchange 5.5 and are not contemplating on the newer
version due to its requirement of an AD.

This is maybe getting a bit offtopic, but since I'm working on this from
the Evolution viewpoint, I think that it's still relevant to this group.

TIA,

Poltsi

I use the Cosmo calendaring system from OSAF (http://www.osafoundation.org/)
 - it's CALDav based and works fine from Evolution. There's also a web
server based component so you can access your calendar via the web
(called Scooby).

It's all a bit rough around the edges and is only at the 0.3 release
level, but it works for me and allows me to access my calendar from
various places.

Sorry guys, my mistake. Apparently there is another piece
to the puzzle. My Exchange guy says this link explains
it better than he could:
(also sorry, I lost the original thread)

Here is the ling explaining the Auto Accept Agent that I am using for
exchange 2003 calendaring for Evo Users.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/guides/AutoAcceptAgent/45ce5e0b-9f07-4e78-bd2f-6af619e48da7.mspx?mfr=true

the link will explain it a lot better than I will.
