I have an immediate issue. I have been forced by my
management to convert from Linux to Windows again. (Grrrr)…. Ok.. now the issue. I burned a back up of my entire home directory
(though the hidden files were not viewable via k3b so I had to rename
.evolution to evolution). I also did my typical back via rsync to my master
server which included .gconf and .evolution Ok.. reloaded the laptop on a new drive. Everything seemed
ok. Tried to then drag directories form local mail store directory to my exchange
account mailbox. Some copied ok. Others failed. I then tried to copy my
contacts over…. Crash…. Now I figure. “No problem” I
will just export and import.. Open evolution this morning and all my local contacts
are gone! Ok.. I told the evolution client to remove the exchange connection to
avoid syncing to exchange (now that I am on Microsoft Lookout) so I will just
remove the .evolution directory and reload via my DVD backup and do a “evolution
–offline” . Tried that. .Contacts still gone!!!!! No problem again
I say… I have a total backup of my /home/wisej directory on my master
server…. So, I tar up files and move entire home directory back (two
hours later). Delete the .evolution and .gconf directories and untar the those
folders into /home/wisej. Startup evolution –offine. local contacts
are all missing along with my local folders. Now I am worried… I have a
third copy / sync at home but would like to find out what I am doing wrong. Help. ************ Jeremey
